This Master’s Degree is an interdisciplinary study programme integrating knowledge and skills to support the communication of market actors (enterprises and non-profit organisations). The emphasis is on contemporary modes of business administration, including internet marketing and international strategies, as well as the key soft skills of intercultural dialogue and intercultural relations. Particular attention is also paid to developing an excellent command of English and other Mediterranean languages. The variety of themes covered by the modules delivers a well-rounded, holistic business programme.

The Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) is a key priority for the Union of the Mediterranean (UfM), the objective of which is to foster the creation of an integrated Euro-Mediterranean (EUROMED) higher education and research area. EMUNI’s educational programmes focus on intercultural business communication, public governance, sustainability and the blue economy, through which it offers a limited number of scholarships to students from non-EU countries in the Mediterranean. This reflects the ethos of the University, which is to maximise educational and career opportunities for all, regardless of geographical or financial background.
Our students come from all over the Mediterranean region. The variety of backgrounds generates dynamic learning groups, who are able to share their experiences and ideas with one another, which when combined with the picturesque location of Piran in Slovenia, makes EMUNI an attractive choice for Masters students.
The IBC Master´s Degree aims to expand the way you think about intercultural business communication by providing a rigorous, interdisciplinary programme combining modern, active teaching methods and field work within a diverse international faculty from renowned EU and Mediterranean universities. You will graduate with skills suitable for a range of business and communication positions.
The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, tutorials, online learning and self-directed learning. The IBC therefore, takes a blended learning approach, where a combination of face-to-face and distance learning offers possibilities to combine study and work. Small classes promote teamwork, close interaction with instructors, and the most effective acquisition of knowledge.
Assessment methods include: written assignments, online assignments, oral presentations, a thesis and internship.
Students can benefit from a mobility option, where they take part in a semester-long study abroad programme at the partner institution, the University of Urbino Carlo Bo or elsewhere in the EU through the ERASMUS+ Mobility Programme.
There are on average two face-to-teaching periods per academic year lasting approximately 6 weeks, with online teaching taking place for the remainder of the time.
There are a total of 30 places on the Masters programme.
The IBC Masters is worth 120 ECTS and is part-time 24 months.
The IBC Masters is accredited by the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.
Normally a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 16 ECTS or equivalent in courses related to economy, business, management or marketing). Knowledge of a second language at intermediate level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR, level B1).
Candidates, who are not English native speakers or did not do their previous undergraduate studies/degree in the English language, must prove their English language knowledge with a certificate of C1 level knowledge of the English language, according to the CEFR. The same applies for second language knowledge (B1 level).
All candidates must provide documentation to support the English language proficiency requirement. The following candidates are considered as fulfilling the English language proficiency requirement:
- Native speakers
- Candidates with evidence of previous education/degree in English
- Candidates with a demonstrated proficiency through English Language testing (date of Certificate must not be older than two years from their enrolment) with the following certificates:
- IELTS or
- PTE Academic or
- TOEFL IBT or
- Cambridge FCE
If the candidate does not fulfil any of the abovementioned requirements, or when in doubt about the authenticity or validity of the English language knowledge proofs, the English Language Department of EMUNI University can conduct a placement test for the candidate, which will provide proof of whether the candidate meets the required level of English language proficiency or requires a further preparatory course before enrolling.
EMUNI offers partial scholarships for outstanding students.
Only candidates who have applied to one or more EMUNI study programmes are eligible to apply and will be considered for partial scholarships that EMUNI is offering. All applications from candidates who have not applied for any of EMUNI study programmes are ineligible.
Language
Although many students are looking for programmes taught in English to improve their employability in the global market, there is also a significant preference for programmes in the native or other widely spoken languages in the region.

The accepted candidates from the first application period will be requested to enrol until 21 July 2024.

The accepted candidates from the second application period will be requested to enroll until 8 September 2024.

The accepted candidates from the third application period will be requested to enroll until 25 September 2024.
*If the number of applicants/accepted candidates will be lower than the number of offered enrolment places, the next application period will be opened.
