Recognition of knowledge and skills

The procedure for recognition of knowledge and skills is regulated by the Rules on the Recognition of Knowledge and Skills published on the link https://emuni.si/rules-and-forms/

 

Recognition of bridging exams

Candidates who must pass bridging exams prior to enrolment (varies depending on the programme) may apply for recognition of previously passed courses in their bachelor studies with similar scope and content.

The following documents should be attached to the application:

  • Academic transcript of records – original.
  • Confirmed content of courses – stamped by the higher education institution.

 

Credit transfer

A student who has completed courses at another educational institution or study programme, may be able to transfer credits to the current study programme. Previously completed courses or credits may allow you to commence with your studies at advanced stage within chosen program.

When enrolling to EMUNI, you should submit the Application for credit transfer to the Student Office.

The following documents should be attached to the application:

  • Academic transcript of records – original.
  • Confirmed content of courses – stamped by the higher education institution.

Applicants are charged application fee for recognition of formal education in compliance with the pricelist.

 

Recognition of informal knowledge and skills

Candidates who wish to have their informally acquired knowledge and skills recognised as part of study programme, may apply for Recognition of informally acquired knowledge and skills. The candidates are requested to submit all documents and proofs, relevant for evaluation of informally obtained knowledge and skills.

Applicants are charged application fee for recognition of informal education in compliance with the pricelist.

The process of recognition of informal knowledge and skills commences with the request of the candidate, by submitting the application form and supporting documents to the Student Office.

 

Recognition of internship

Students who wish to have their internship (if required as part of the study programme) recognised, may apply for recognition if recognition is possible by the stipulations in the study programme.

The following documents should be attached to the application:

  • a proof of job experience in the specific professional field,
  • references, endorsement or similar of the organisation where the student work or has worked.

 

Competent commission for recognition

Credit transfers and recognition of formal/ informal education is considered by the Commission for recognition of foreign education, knowledge and skills.

The Commission will recognize knowledge and skills that, in terms of content and complexity, correspond entirely or partly to general and/or to subject-specific competences defined by the study programme, based on the statutory criteria (defined in the Higher Education Act, Ur.l.RS, No. 67/1993 with amendments and Criteria for Transitions between Study Programs, Official Gazette of RS, No. 95/2010).

The maximum number of credits that can be recognised in a specific programme is defined by the programme.
