By Bus

Piran has a bus station.

Several buses run daily to and from Ljubljana, the journey takes around 2 h. Check out the timetable at Ljubljana Bus Station https://www.ap-ljubljana.si/en/

The Ronchi dei Legionari (Trieste) airport has excellent road and motorway connections and regular public bus transport lines. At the airport, take bus number 51 to the city of Trieste.

By Train

Piran does not have a train station. The closest train station is Koper, reachable by train from Ljubljana. Check the national and international connections and timetables at the website of Slovenian railways: https://potniski.sz.si/en/

Another option you may find convenient is to travel by train to Trieste, Italy and then connect by bus to Piran. Please note that buying a vignette (vinjeta) is mandatory for driving on motorways. The vignette can be purchased at all petrol stations in Slovenia and in neighbouring countries.

Parking in Piran

Most of Piran is closed to traffic. If you arrive by car you can park a car in the garage (Fornače 23, 6330 Piran), approx. 1 km from the city centre.

From there you can walk to the city centre (10 min) or take a free-of-charge shuttle bus.

In the city centre there are very few parking places available and the hourly rate for parking is 5 EUR (exemption is 15 min free entrance to the city for delivery).
