EMUNI offers full and partial scholarships – see the scholarship section.
Goals
IBC programme aims to provide the principal competences to manage the process of business internationalization, especially intercultural communication skills, cultural knowledge and relevant economic topics.
General competences
Students will have high competences in written and spoken registers of two foreign languages. They will know the main cultural features of the respective countries and the most important economic topics relevant for business at international level. They will become aware of cultural differences and specific problems related to intercultural communication. Thanks to these interdisciplinary competences, the students will be able to act effectively in the field of international business.
Subject-specific competences
Students will attain the level of language proficiency in foreign languages corresponding to C2 in the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR) for English, French, Spanish or German, and corresponding to B2 level for Russian or Chinese. All language courses will concentrate on lexical, syntactic and pragmatic structures of business registers. Students will learn to work in international and intercultural business contexts, to analyse communication processes, to foresee possible misunderstandings and to find solutions for communication problems. They will also be able to value and improve strategies for the internationalization of companies.
To be able to enroll in the study programme Intercultural Business Communication, the candidates have to fulfil the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
- Knowledge of English language at advanced level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), level C1);
- Knowledge of French or Arabic or Italian at intermediate level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), level B1);
- At least 16 ECTS or equivalent in courses related to economy, business, management or marketing.
The candidates who graduated from the study programmes that do not meet the criteria mentioned above (item 4) must prove the knowledge through examination. The examinations will be performed in August and/or September 2022.
In the case of the limitation of enrolment, the students will be selected in accordance with the following criteria:
- grade point average – 100% of the study programme, the degree of which serves as the basis for enrolment.
The EMUNI University commission reserves the right to test the candidates’ language knowledge. Candidates, who are not English native speakers or did not do their previous degree in the English language, must prove their English language knowledge with a certificate of C1 level knowledge of the English language, according to the CEFR. The same applies for the Arabic, French and Italian language knowledge, which must be at the B1 level, according to CEFR. The students who do a part of their studies at University of Urbino have to prove their knowledge of Italian language (B1 level) according to the same provisions.
If needed, the authorized person conducting the procedure of recognition of foreign degree is allowed to require additional evidence of foreign education in question.
The programme is delivered as blended learning, in a combination of e-learning and face-to-face lectures held in Piran, Slovenia. Field visits (Intercultural Laboratories – practical training) are also organised in Slovenia and Italy.
