From May 10–14, 2025, EMUNI University staff members Polona Oblak and Karen Gladovic participated in a dynamic Erasmus teaching mobility at Heliopolis University in Cairo and Alexandria University in Egypt. The visit reinforced EMUNI’s active role in international educational networks and strengthened academic cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
During their stay, they led interactive workshops on internationalisation for university staff and intercultural competencies for students at Heliopolis University. They also participated in the EKIC launch event, presented EMUNI’s network offerings, and met senior institutional representatives. At Alexandria University, discussions focused on joint workshops, summer schools, and future study programmes. Collaboration talks with the Anna Lindh Foundation further laid the groundwork for new youth projects and strengthened academic ties.
The mobility offered valuable cultural insights through visits to historic sites and museums in Cairo and Alexandria, enriching the academic exchange experience. Preparation included tailored workshop development, promotional materials, and strategic meetings aligned with EMUNI’s internationalisation objectives.
This mobility reinforced EMUNI’s visibility in Egypt, sparked interest in joint academic programmes, and expanded regional partnerships. Key outcomes include strong interest in EMUNI-led summer schools, collaborative international projects, and the creation of a platform for institutional partnerships. Workshop insights and materials have been shared internally and will inform EMUNI’s ongoing international strategy.
Future cooperation is planned through joint study programmes, workshops, conferences, and participation in initiatives such as Horizon, Erasmus, and PRIMA. Through these efforts, EMUNI continues to advance Euro-Mediterranean academic ties, promote knowledge exchange, and foster sustainable educational partnerships.
