Short Bio

Dr. Orel Frank is an English language lecturer.  She holds a degree in English from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and a Master in Political Science from the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana. She completed part of her studies at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada before receiving her PhD from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana with a dissertation entitled ‘’English and Slovene Neologisms in the Language of Tourism.’’ Currently, Dr. Orel Frank is a lecturer at The Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica and EMUNI. She is the holder of subjects connected to the English language for specific purposes as well as to culture and communication. Her field of activity is thus not strictly closely related to English as the language, but also extends to the field of intercultural communication. Dr. Orel Frank also occasionally participates in subjects, such as marketing research in tourism, academic writing, communication studies and global dialogue. She gains insights into new pedagogical practices and new knowledge in this field by participating in various training workshops. The subject of her research is the exfoliation of newer terminology. Dr. Orel Frank also conducts research on the use of interactive language teaching methods and on defining the specifics of ESP, as well as being active in other fields. She is the head coordinator of the tutor system at Turistica and contributes to the publication of Academica Turistica – the Tourism Innovation Journal with language reviews. From 2017 – 2019, Dr. Orel Frank led the international Interreg V-A Slovenia – Croatia project entitled ‘’Common heritage for the joint international promotion of 365 days of green tourism on the Opatija and Portorož Riviera’’ (Riviera4Seasons2) at faculty level, under a leading partnership with the Municipality of Piran. In the past, she has participated in other international projects, including Turist and Zero Waste.
