Participants of the recent European University Alliances event in Maribor were greeted with a warm letter of appreciation from Rector Prof. Dr. Zdravko Kačič, celebrating the collaborative spirit and shared achievements during the 50th Anniversary of the University of Maribor. The event, titled “Integration of Research, Teaching and Innovation in a European University Campus – Why, How and When,” gathered stakeholders from across Europe to discuss the future direction of European Higher Education and Research.
As announced at the event’s conclusion, participants are invited to review and contribute to the draft conclusions that emerged from in-depth discussions between representatives of European Commission directorates and the Alliances community. The draft text highlights the importance of a holistic approach to European higher education, calls for stronger policy harmonisation, and recognises the ongoing role of Alliances in fostering a knowledge-based, competitive, and inclusive society. All colleagues are welcome to submit comments or suggestions relevant to these draft conclusions by October 3, 2025. The goal is to share a comprehensive statement with key stakeholders involved in European University efforts.
