Prof. Dr. Petra Robnik Verdnik

Director of the EMUNI Publishing House

Asst. Prof. Dr. Petra Robnik Verdnik is the Director of the EMUNI Publishing House and serves as a Project Manager and Researcher at the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI). She holds a PhD in the Organization and Management of Human Resources and Educational Systems and was appointed Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management and Research Fellow by the EMUNI Senate in 2024. In her role as Director of the EMUNI Publishing House (since 2025), she leads the implementation of the Publishing House Strategic and Financial Plan 2025–2029, with a strategic focus on expanding EMUNI’s academic and policy-oriented publishing portfolio, strengthening international indexing and visibility, and positioning EMUNI as a Euro-Mediterranean knowledge hub for scientific and policy-relevant scholarship. As a Project Manager, Dr. Verdnik is actively involved in the coordination and implementation of national and European projects, with particular expertise in higher education innovation, sport management, and dual-career systems for athletes. Her academic and professional work bridges education, research, andpolicy, contributing to institutional development and international cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean region. Her previous senior public-sector roles include serving as Acting Director-General of the Directorate for Sport at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia, where she was responsible for strategic governance, policy implementation, and budget planning in accordance with national legislation. Prior to this, she held leadership positions at the Olympic Committee of Slovenia, including Head of the Athletes Career Centre and Secretary of the Slovenian Olympians Association, where she led programmes supporting athletes’ education, employability, and post-sport career transitions. At the international level, she collaborated with the International Olympic Committee as an Athlete365 Career+ NOC Manager, and at the European level played a leading role in the Erasmus+ Sport project Athletes Friendly Education, including work on the certification of athlete-friendly educational institutions. She also served as a Member of the Expert Council of the Republic of Slovenia for Sport, contributing to high-level strategic decision-making. With interdisciplinary expertise spanning human resource management, sport management and education, project and programme management, academic publishing, and policy development, Dr. Verdnik is committed to advancing societal development through the empowerment of individuals and the creation of sustainable links between education, research, and practice.
