Erasmus+ International Staff Week 2026

Digitalisation and Human Rights in the Euro-Mediterranean Region and Beyond

📅 1–5 June 2026

This Staff Week offers a space for in-depth discussion on the impact of digitalisation on human rights, with a particular focus on the Euro-Mediterranean region and the role of universities in shaping human-centred digital futures.

Participants will explore how digital transformation is reshaping societies, rights, and institutions, and how higher education can actively contribute to a more just, inclusive, and resilient digital world.

Thematic Focus

Digitalisation as a Human Rights Issue

  • access and equality,
  • the digital divide,
  • the right to privacy, data protection, and digital identity.

Euro-Mediterranean Perspectives

  • digitalisation and migration,
  • cultural differences in the understanding of human rights,
  • digital divides in the Euro-Mediterranean space,
  • universities as bridges in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Looking into the Future – Shaping Human-Centred Digital Futures

  • the future of human rights in a digital society,
  • universities as guardians of democratic values,
  • the intergenerational dimension of digital transformation,
  • preparedness for future challenges (pandemics, conflicts, migration, information shocks, and institutional digital resilience).

  • exploring the role of higher education institutions in shaping human-centred digital futures.

Application

Who can apply?

Lecturers and administrative staff from European Universities and from Partner Universities outside Europe. 

Registration deadline: extended until 19 April.

If places are still available, the registration deadline will be extended.

Participation fee

The Staff Week will have a participation fee of €70, which includes:

The lecture will address the positive aspects brought by technology and, through practical examples, also present the risks that are already materializing, such as cybersecurity threats, deepfakes, crypto scams, and social scoring systems.
