Master Study Programme

Mediterranean Geopolitics and Geoeconomics

In an age of geopolitical revolution, you have a choice: watch power shift from a distance, or learn to read maps, resources and narratives so well that leaders will ask you what to do next – or ask you to become a leader yourself!

Programme overview

The Master’s in Mediterranean Geopolitics and Geoeconomics trains students to develop cutting-edge interdisciplinary knowledge in the fields of geopolitics, geoeconomics and international relations, with a special emphasis on the Mediterranean and its related global context. Students learn to read power shifts, connect dots between regions and actors, and turn complex data into clear, actionable analysis for diplomacy, policy, business or media.

Why study geopolitics?

  • Understand how great powers, regional players and non state actors compete and cooperate across the Mediterranean, Europe and Eurasia.
  • Explore how sea routes, ports, energy corridors, data cables and logistics chains shape states’ choices, markets and security.
  • Analyse how demographics, migration, narratives and identities fuel tensions – or open space for peace and cooperation.
  • Discover how digitalisation, AI, cyber operations and information warfare are transforming diplomacy and strategy.
  • Work closely with experts and practitioners on real world cases, simulations and policy or strategy projects.

This programme is ideal for candidates with a background in international relations, political science, geography, economics, law, history, sociology, or related fields – or if you work in diplomacy, public administration, NGOs, media or business and want to upgrade your strategic understanding of geopolitics and geoeconomics.
