English literature and teaching English for specific purposes
Katja has a varied range of research fields she likes to be immerse in, but mostly covers English literature and teaching English for specific purposes (ESP), as well as the use of literature within ESP.
Katja completed her masters degree at the Department of English and American Studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor. During her study period, she lived in Scotland where she completed part of her master’s degree research. Thereafter, she conducted research in the fields of creativity and engagement in teaching English as a foreign language, the self identities of PhD students at the Faculty of Graz and the professional identities of future teachers at the Faculty of Arts in Maribor. Katja was a PhD candidate in English as a foreign language didactics at the University of Graz and is currently a PhD candidate in English literature adaptations at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.
She has been teaching English as a foreign language and as a professional language for 15 years at nursery, primary and grammar school, as well as for adult professionals and at tertiary level at the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences (English and German for Agriculture Specialists), the Faculty of Arts (children’s literature and grammar and communication for future English teachers), both at the University of Maribor, as well as business English at the Faculty of Management at the University of Primorska.
