Erasmus+ Staff Week at EMUNI University

The Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) proudly hosted its annual Erasmus+ Staff Week under the theme “Strengthening Bonds: Creating Shared Opportunities.” Held from 9 to 13 June 2025, the event brought together university representatives and international partners from across Europe and the Mediterranean to foster dialogue, build networks, and enhance intercultural collaboration in higher education.

The programme officially opened on Monday, 9 June at EMUNI’s headquarters in Piran, with welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. Roberto Biloslavo, Vice-President of EMUNI University. The opening day focused on the importance of intercultural collaboration, with inspiring lectures by Polona Oblak, MSc, and Assist. Prof. Ddr. Maja Pucelj, addressing the intersection of digitalization and human rights.

Participants also enjoyed a guided tour of the picturesque town of Piran, embracing the local culture and setting the tone for a week of meaningful exchange.
On Tuesday, 10 June, participants engaged in interactive workshops led by Prof. Dr. Jaka Vadnjal, exploring the future of the EMUNI Network and opportunities for collaboration. Later that day, Emna Jbara, PR and Outreach Manager at EMUNI, moderated a session titled “Study in Slovenia: Learning, Challenges, and Opportunities,” highlighting student experiences. The day concluded with a distinguished guest lecture by Prof. Maria Natale of Pegaso Digital University, who explored diversity and inclusion in the Italian higher education system from a constitutional perspective.

Wednesday, 11 June featured an excursion to the Science and Research Centre (SRC) Koper, where participants visited research labs and learned about ongoing projects led by Assoc. Prof. Saša Pišot. This hands-on visit underscored EMUNI’s commitment to research and knowledge exchange across disciplines and borders.
On Thursday and Friday (12–13 June), staff week participants had the unique opportunity to attend the International Scientific Conference EM-HERI 2025, held at Grand Hotel Bernardin in Portorož. Themed “Higher Education Systems in the Mediterranean: Comparative Analysis & Development Opportunities,” the conference served as a platform for scholars and institutional leaders to share comparative insights and explore cross-border solutions for regional development.

The week concluded with a certificate ceremony and closing remarks, marking the end of an inspiring and productive Erasmus+ Staff Week at EMUNI University. As a proud Euro-Mediterranean institution, EMUNI continues to serve as a hub for intercultural understanding, academic cooperation, and innovative education across borders.
