EMUNI looks at Future Cooperation with Lebanese American University

Our colleague from the External Relations and Communication Department, Enisa Musai, recently concluded a visit to the Lebanese American University in Beirut from 13 October until 17 November 2019. The visit was conducted in the framework of the Erasmus+ mobility training but, more importantly, was scheduled to coincide with the International Education Week.

The International Education Week, taking place in the Beirut and Byblos campuses from 14 to 17 October 2019 was a higher education fair that assembled many institutions from around the world including the Freie University Berlin, DAAD German Academic Exchange Service, IED Istituto Europeo Di Design, Ukrainian University and University of Almeria.

Enisa seized the opportunity to exchange with colleagues from all of these institutions while also having an informal conversation with many students present at the fair.

Enisa could meet students interested in EMUNI’s programmes such as IBC, EMED as well as EMUNI’s summer schools. She managed to collect many useful contacts and collect insights on how to promote EMUNI’s activity and market its programmes.

The visit was also an opportunity to strengthen ties with the Lebanon American University, through a meeting with Ms Dima Hamidi from LAU International Office and the signing of an Inter-Institutional Agreement.

The visit helped her understand the peculiarities of the LAU, which is incorporated in the United States as a non-profit higher education institution through the New York State Education Department. All of LAU’s academic programs are reviewed and approved by this body.

Several programs are also accredited by authoritative agencies in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Unfortunately, some of the activities foreseen for the visit had to be cancelled due to the outbreak of popular protests in Lebanon that forced the University to close down as a precaution.
