On 1 October, a delegation from EMUNI University, led by President Prof. Dr. Rado Bohinc and including Polona Oblak, Head of the EMUNI Network, and Mounir Ghribi, Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Blue Economy at the Euro-Mediterranean University, visited Heliopolis University. The delegation had the honour of meeting with HU President Prof. Gouda Helal, two Deans, and the Director of International Relations.
During their visit, they explored the SEKEM Group farm and Heliopolis University, learning about HU’s inspiring efforts to integrate sustainable development practices across education and research. Discussions also focused on potential future collaborations on study programmes and initiatives with the EMUNI Knowledge & Innovation Centre.
The visit included a meeting with H.E. Sašo Podlesnik, Slovenian Ambassador to Egypt, and Ahmed El-Shazly, Director of Sponsored Programmes at Heliopolis University for SEKEM, to discuss ongoing efforts and future partnerships.
On 2nd October, President Bohinc participated as a speaker in a high-level panel at the Science Diplomacy event, organised by the Union for the Mediterranean and the European Commission at the League of Arab States in Cairo. This significant event focused on advancing science diplomacy across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Following the event, the delegation met with Mr. Romano Prodi, former President of the European Commission, for a productive discussion about potential future collaborations.
An agreement has been signed between EMUNI and Heliopolis University to foster collaborations in educational and research fields, and we look forward to many impactful joint initiatives!
