EMUNI Contribution to PRIMIS PLUS Conference

On 6 November 2025, EMUNI University was represented at the final event of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia PRIMIS PLUS project in Trieste, dedicated to multilingualism, minority languages, and sustainable cultural tourism.

Invited as a speaker in his capacity as professor of the Euro-Mediterranean University, Prof. Luka Juri contributed to the conference session on “the role of minority languages in the tourism industry.”
In his intervention, he highlighted how respecting and promoting minority languages can enrich visitor experiences, support cultural identity, and foster sustainable, community-centred tourism development.

The event was part of PRIMIS PLUS – “Multicultural stories: a sensorial journey through local minorities’ point of view”, co-funded by the Interreg Italy–Slovenia Programme 2021–2027. The project promotes the cultural heritage of minority language communities in Italy and Slovenia and develops innovative cross-border tourism tools and experiences.

Prof. Juri also emphasised the role of universities in preparing future tourism and communication professionals, stressing the importance of intercultural competence and multilingual awareness—core elements of EMUNI’s mission as a bridge between cultures across the Mediterranean.

Media materials and an Italian news article provided by the organisers will be used to showcase EMUNI’s contribution and to raise awareness of the importance of minority languages as an asset for sustainable and authentic tourism development.
