MED-HUB workshop discussion: Towards Tolerant and Plural Dialogues of Values and Religions in the Euro-Mediterranean

The first part of the MED-HUB workshop on tolerance of values and religions took place yesterday in Trieste, Italy under the working discussion “»Towards Tolerant and Plural Dialogues of Values and Religions in the Euro-Mediterranean«. The workshop brought together experts, representatives of policy initiatives and, universities that discussed to what extend countries of the Euro-Mediterranean region can work together to better promote interreligious relations and interreligious dialogue!

The keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Romain Murenzi, Executive Director of TWAS and Prof. Dr. Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, President of Euro-Mediterranean University. The project was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Jerneja Penca, Head of Academic Affairs, Euro-Mediterranean University and the Design & Purpose of the Workshop by Prof. Dr. Lenart Škof, Science and Research Centre Koper, Slovenia andAssist. Prof. Dr. Gorazd Andrejč, Science and Research Centre Koper, Slovenia / University of Groningen, The Netherlands.

The debate on tolerance of values and religions was delivered by the following speakers that participated in the workshop: Dr. Helena Motoh ,Dr. Gorazd Andrejč, Dr. Maja Bjelica (Science and Research Centre Koper, Slovenia), Dr. Eugene Sensenig (Notre Dame University, Lebanon), Cornelis Hulsman(Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Translation, Egypt), Dr. Tomaž Grušovnik (University of Primorska), Rouba El-Helou(University of Erfurt, Dunya Habash, (Woolf Institute, United Kingdom) Lydia Dionís Giordano (Blanquerna Observatory on Media, Religion and Culture, Spain), Dr. Elisabetta Ruspini (University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy), Dr. Eugene Sensenig (Notre Dame University, Lebanon).

The workshop covered topics on interreligious relations and interreligious dialogue and common values for intercultural education and the arts in the context of religious and worldview differences in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The discussion resulted in a list of policy recommendations for decision-makers in the wider Euro-Mediterranean region and recommendations on for Euro-Mediterranean Studies curricula.
