President Prof. Dr. Rado Bohinc participated in the Inauguration of the Academic Year 2025–2026 of MED.E.A. University, held at the prestigious Casino Maltese in Valletta.
The ceremony brought together high-level representatives like Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, H.E. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, former President of Malta and Hon. Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, Minister for European Funds, reaffirming the importance of education as a driver of innovation and cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
President Bohinc took part in the roundtable discussion titled “Educational Innovation as Motivator for a Sustainable Euro-Mediterranean Migration Ecosystem” during which he stressed the importance of internationalisation across the broader Mediterranean region beyond Bologna countries, bottom-up harmonisation of academic quality to reach the highest standards of scientific excellence, and the vision of a digital university that embraces AI while upholding principles of responsibility, transparency, and verification.
President Bohinc also met politician Luigi Di Maio,EU Special Representative for the Gulf region, to discuss how Emuni University and Euromed University can serve as the fundamental pillars on which the European Commission’s new University of the Mediterranean initiative should be built.

EMUNI University’s participation reflects its commitment to internationalisation and active engagement in Euro-Mediterranean academic networks. The involvement of MED.E.A. University within the EMUNI network further strengthens cooperation between institutions across both shores of the Mediterranean, supporting EMUNI’s strategic mission of fostering dialogue, mobility, and innovative learning.
