EMUNI University has recently received high praise from UNHCR’s Romana Zidar, Associate Protection Officer for Central Europe, for its successful collaboration on the Education Pathway initiative. This innovative project aims to provide academic opportunities for refugee students, and EMUNI’s dedicated efforts have already yielded notable results.
Two refugee students, who hold valid passports, have successfully enrolled in the Kinesiology of Human Performance Master’s program at EMUNI University. This achievement is a direct outcome of the strong collaboration between EMUNI and its partners, underscoring the university’s commitment to accessible higher education.
In a further development, AD Futura will soon issue a public call for scholarships, providing these students with the opportunity to apply for financial support. Upon receiving their scholarship decisions, they will also be able to apply for temporary residence permits at the Slovenian Embassy in Türkiye, bringing them one step closer to studying in Slovenia.
UNHCR also shared that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation expressed strong support for the initiative. Beginning in 2025, the ministry will once again take responsibility for the AD Futura scholarship fund and has committed to expanding the number of scholarships available to refugee students. The goal is to offer at least ten scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year, ensuring even more students can benefit from this life-changing opportunity.
EMUNI University remains proud of its role in this transformative program and looks forward to further strengthening its partnerships to support refugee education.
