A delegation from EMUNI University, led by Dr. Prof. Rado Bohinc, President of EMUNI, and Dr. Prof. Mounir Ghribi, Vice-President for International Cooperation and Development, carried out a high-level visit to Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and the Qatar Foundation to explore opportunities for collaboration in research, education, and innovation.
The visit aimed to enhance EMUNI’s international partnerships and extend its engagement in the Gulf region, in line with the university’s mission to build bridges between Europe and the Mediterranean through higher education and knowledge exchange.
At Hamad Bin Khalifa University, the EMUNI delegation was received by Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, President of HBKU; Dr. Prabhat Hajela, Provost; and Faisal Ali Al-Janahi, Partnerships Manager. Discussions focused on developing joint academic initiatives, student and staff mobility, and collaborative research projects addressing shared regional and global challenges.
The delegation also met with representatives of the Qatar Foundation, including Dr. Abdulnassir, Executive Director of Student Services; Dr. Haya Al-Kubaisi, Partnership Manager; and Dr. Coralie O. Durussel, Partnerships Lead. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore future collaboration in innovation-driven education, research capacity building, and institutional partnerships across the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions.
The visit coincided with a lecture by Her Excellency Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar, President of the Republic of Slovenia, titled “Realities of Multipolarism vs. the Need for Multilateralism,” hosted at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. Her Excellency’s address emphasised the importance of dialogue, multilateral cooperation, and academic diplomacy, values that lie at the heart of EMUNI’s Euro-Mediterranean mission.
Dr. Prof. Rado Bohinc and Dr. Prof. Mounir Ghribi also attended the official ceremony for the Slovenian delegation accompanying President Pirc Musar, further reinforcing the academic and diplomatic ties between Slovenia and Qatar.
This visit marks a significant step forward in establishing new strategic partnerships between EMUNI and Qatari institutions, fostering intercultural understanding and sustainable development through education, research, and innovation.
