EMUNI President Meets European Diplomats During Visit to Egypt

During his visit to Egypt, EMUNI University President Prof. Dr. Rado Bohinc, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Jaka Vadnjal, Head of EMUNI Network and International Relations, met with the Ambassador of Slovenia to Egypt.

The meeting was also attended by the ambassadors of Bulgaria, Türkiye, Spain, Romania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a representative of the European Commission in Egypt.

The discussions focused on strengthening dialogue and cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region, with particular emphasis on the Pact for the Mediterranean and the vision of a new Mediterranean University strategy. Participants agreed that a Mediterranean University should not be understood as a new institution, but rather as a renewed determination for organized and supported North–South cooperation, building on existing university networks.

It was emphasized that EMUNI University possesses the knowledge, experience, and established network to contribute significantly to this initiative. Founded through the Barcelona Process 18 years ago, EMUNI has continuously worked to strengthen academic cooperation and networking across the Mediterranean region ever since.

“The Mediterranean University is not about creating another institution; it is about strengthening cooperation, dialogue, and shared responsibility across the region. EMUNI was established from the Barcelona Process with precisely this mission, and for the past 18 years we have been building bridges between the North and South Mediterranean through higher education, research, and partnership,” said Prof. Dr. Rado Bohinc.
