On 23 April, the online event “Voting Reimagined” brought together participants from across Europe for a discussion on the future of digital voting. Organised within the framework of the DIGIVOTE project (Enhancing Trust, Transparency, and Engagement in Digital Voting), the event created a space for an open and balanced exchange of perspectives among researchers, civil society representatives, and citizens interested in democratic participation.
The discussion addressed several key topics, including trust in digital voting systems, issues of security and transparency, accessibility and inclusion, as well as differences in national approaches across European countries. Particular attention was also given to possible future developments in the field of digital voting. The programme combined expert inputs with a moderated discussion, a presentation of survey insights, and an interactive Q&A session. The exchange highlighted both the opportunities offered by digitalisation and the challenges associated with ensuring reliable and inclusive electoral processes.
The event concluded with an engaged and thoughtful discussion among participants, contributing to the broader objectives of the project.
