4th Scientific Conference:
Corporate Responsibility for Environmental and Human Rights Due Diligence in EU and Slovenian Law

On Wednesday, 6 May 2026, the Law Institute of the Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS Koper), in cooperation with EMUNI University, will organise the 4th Scientific Conference entitled Corporate Responsibility for Environmental and Human Rights Due Diligence in EU and Slovenian Law.
The conference will take place in Koper (Kreljeva Street 6) and will be held in a hybrid format, enabling both in-person and online participation.
The event is organised within the research project Measures of Company Law to Enhance the Competitiveness of the Slovenian Economy in Relation to Compliance with International Treaties in the Field of Human Rights and the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change (ARIS: V5-2514), led by the Law Institute of ZRS Koper. The conference will serve as a forum for the exchange of theoretical and practical perspectives on recent developments in EU sustainable corporate law, with particular emphasis on human rights and environmental due diligence. The programme will address, among other topics:
- Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD) and the Omnibus I package, including developments in the EU regulatory framework
- transposition of the CSDDD into national law, particularly in relation to the Slovenian Companies Act (ZGD-1)
- role and competences of supervisory authorities
- civil liability of companies and members of management or supervisory bodies
- comparative approaches across EU Member States and selected third countries
- impact of sustainability obligations on corporate competitiveness and supply chains
The conference aims to foster informed and forward-looking discussion among academics, practitioners, and policymakers on the evolving legal framework of corporate sustainability.
