Asst. Prof. Dr. Luka Juri is Assistant Professor and Researcher responsible for the Department of Political and Social Sciences at EMUNI University in Koper, Slovenia. His academic work focuses on on the geopolitics and geoeconomics of Europe and the Mediterranean, including strategic autonomy, EU foreign policy, and the geoeconomics of infrastructure. He completed his PhD in Geopolitics and Geoeconomics at the University of Trieste (2003–2007) and previously earned an M.A. in Political Science at the University of Ljubljana (2002–2006) and a B.A. in International and Diplomatic Sciences at the University of Trieste. He has extensive leadership and public-service experience, including serving as Director of the Koper Regional Museum (2012–2022) and as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Slovenia (2008–2011), where he was Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education, Science and Technological Development. At EMUNI, he also coordinates the national accreditation process for various study programmes, as well as the development of the Department of Political and Social Studies. His academic work includes publications and conference contributions on topics such as the Three Seas Initiative and strategic responses of Northern Adriatic ports to geopolitical and climate change pressures, presented at events including EM-HERI 2025 and seminars at the University Nicolò Cusano in Rome.
