EMUNI University Joins International Collaboration on the Homo Adriaticus Cultural Heritage Project

EMUNI University is pleased to announce an upcoming collaboration within the framework of Homo Adriaticus, an international documentary-cultural project led by the French association Balkans Expressions. The project brings together partners from across the Adriatic region to explore and highlight the shared cultural, linguistic, historical, and maritime heritage of the Adriatic coastal peoples.

Homo Adriaticus centres on the symbolic figure of the “Adriatic human”—a multicultural identity shaped by centuries of exchange across the sea. The project includes the production of a documentary film, the creation of video capsules showcasing regional cultural heritage, and the organization of a major international conference to be held in Lyon in 2027.

EMUNI University will play a role in the Slovenian segment of the project, contribute to the academic dimension of the 2027 conference, and facilitate the involvement of members of its international university network, ensuring broader regional representation and collaboration within the initiative.

This partnership reflects EMUNI’s commitment to fostering dialogue, research, and cultural understanding across the Euro-Mediterranean region, in alignment with its mission to serve as a bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Tatjana Dumas Rodica, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Saint-Étienne, whose support was instrumental in connecting the partners and encouraging this collaboration.

A special thanks also goes to Ms. Yasmina Zaabi, President of Balkans Expressions, for her leadership and dedication to developing this meaningful project that brings together art, academia, history, and cultural diplomacy.

Further updates on this collaboration will be shared as the project progresses.
