Short Bio

Cécil Meulenberg is a biomedical researcher from the Netherlands with cellular laboratory research experience in neurotoxicology (PhD), neurobiology, audiology, and oncology. In 2008 he moved to Slovenia. His teaching experience comprises 3rd year bachelor’s course ‘Various topics within the biopsychological fields in the English language’, as well as on the Master’s level the elective course ‘Nutrition & the Brain’: on the interrelation between the consumption of whole foods, digestion, physiology, brain function, behaviour and disease. Since 2017 he has worked as a researcher at the Science and Research Centre, Koper and in collaboration with local and international stakeholder is developing interdisciplinary projects in the fields of kinesiology and aging, with a focus on alternative therapies and sustainable food systems centred around marine aquacultures, as well as promoting the various aspects of the Mediterranean lifestyle: diet, physical activity, environmental awareness, that should beneficially influence health across the lifespan. At the same time, he participates in sports exercise projects and co-authors manuscripts with project outcomes.
