NEW EMUNI PRESIDENT TAKES OFFICE

2 April marks the start of the mandate of the new President of the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI), Prof. Rado Bohinc, from Slovenia.

The outgoing President, Prof. Dr. Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry, formally handed over the mandate to the new President on the EMUNI premises in Piran earlier today.

The first 5-year term of Prof. Dr. Abdelhamid El-Zoheiry started on 1st February 2014, before his mandate was renewed once again in February 2019. Prof. Dr. El-Zoheiry graduated from the Medical School of Cairo University in 1985, and went on to obtain a master’s degree in 1989, followed by a doctoral degree in 1994. He was then appointed to the department of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery at Cairo University School of Medicine. After becoming a full time professor in 2004, he pursued a career in education and research management, obtaining a master’s degree in Health Professions Education from Maastricht University, Netherlands, in 2006. From 2007 until 2012, Prof. Dr. El-Zoheiry worked as the executive director of the Research Development and Innovation Programme at the Ministry of Scientific Research. In September 2012, he was appointed as the founding President of Heliopolis University in Cairo and the Senior Advisor for the Minister of Scientific Research.

During his professional career, Prof. Dr. El-Zoheiry acquired extensive experience in international cooperation in education, research and innovation, including the development of numerous international partnerships with Euro-Mediterranean institutions and organisations, and the management of numerous collaborative educational and research projects and related activities.

The new President and the whole EMUNI team wish Prof. Dr. El-Zoheiry the best in his future endeavours and thank him for his service to the University for the last decade.

Prof. Dr. Bohinc is a full professor of comparative business and European law, and principal researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, (UL FDV) and at the Scientific Research Center in Koper (ZRS), the latter which already closely collaborates with EMUNI. He researches EU law, comparative business law, corporate governance and social responsibility.

Prof. Dr. Bohinc has published several publications and monographs and has lectured at many universities abroad (USA – Fulbright, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Czech, Sweden, Norway, Russia, India, Nepal, South Korea, and New Zealand) while he has been a speaker at numerous national and international scientific conferences and symposiums.
