PORTUGAL´S B2E CoLAB and EMUNI´S CoE SUBE COLLABORATION

The Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Blue Economy (CoE SUBE) has invited Blue Bioeconomy Collaborative Laboratory (B2E CoLAB) to join its network of experts, marking an important moment of strategic collaboration between the two entities. B2E CoLAB’s executive coordinator, Maria Coelho: “We are very excited to collaborate and to contribute our knowledge”.

B2E CoLAB is a private non-profit association in Matosinhos, Portugal, which has been running since 2020. Its objective is to help shape a new blue bioeconomy through research, education, innovation and business, and was the initiative of the Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education. B2E CoLAB focuses on the three main blue bioeconomy sectors with the highest potential: Living Marine Resources, Marine Biotechnology and Sustainable Aquaculture.

The Jean Monnet Centre on Sustainable Blue Economy was launched in March 2022 at EMUNI to conduct activities at the intersection of research, education and science for policy dialogue as well as citizen engagement in support of healthy seas for our and future generations. Our activities are focused on the Mediterranean Sea, but with implications and interest for other regions. CoE SUBE fosters interactions in the knowledge triangle (academia-policy-society) related to the theme of blue economy, both in how this plays out in the EU, and in its relation with the Mediterranean region. For this reason, CoE SUBE is delighted about the latest collaboration with B2E CoLAB, which will allow for the exchange of knowledge between the two, fostering joint research, innovation and technology transfer projects. Both entities are determined to highlight the importance of the Sustainable Blue Economy and create tangible actions to address global concerns related to the oceans and their preservation.
