SUMMARY:Voting in Slovenia: paper\, digital or both? Digivote local conference
DESCRIPTION:Within the framework of the EU-funded DIGIVOTE project (Enhancing Trust\, Transparency\, and Engagement in Digital Voting)\, EMUNI University is organising a national public event titled “Voting in Slovenia: Paper-based\, digital\, or both?” \nThe round-table discussion\, held in the local language (Slovenian) with simultaneous interpretation into English for international participants\, will address key questions around e-voting and hybrid electoral systems in Slovenia: What technical\, legal and institutional conditions are needed for secure and trustworthy e-elections? Can a hybrid voting system effectively connect traditional paper ballots with digital channels? How can digitalisation of elections avoid deepening social inequalities and instead foster inclusive participation of young people\, older voters\, women\, persons with low digital skills and other vulnerable groups? \nExperts\, institutional representatives\, civil-society organisations\, political actors and interested citizens will discuss transparency\, verifiability and public trust in digital voting\, as well as safeguards to protect democratic resilience and relevant international good practices. With the prior consent of speakers\, the event will be recorded for an EMUNI podcast and later published on EMUNI’s official YouTube channel to further stimulate public debate on the future of elections and digital democracy in Slovenia. \nBy joining the conversation\, participants will contribute to the broader DIGIVOTE effort to develop informed\, evidence-based recommendations for more inclusive\, transparent and responsible use of digital technologies in democratic processes. DESCRIPTION:This year’s Summer School\, organised by the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics – OGS\,  will focus on Building Capacities for an Innovative and Resilient Sustainable Blue Economy. \nParticular emphasis will be given to the context of the Euro-Mediterranean Region\, and specifically the Adriatic\, covering multidisciplinary fields related to the marine and maritime sectors\, providing both theoretical insights\, practical applications and technological trends. \nSummer School 2026 will feature two unique programmes on offshore wind farms (OWFs) and marine protected areas (MPAs) that will complement one another within the framework of the Blue Skills initiative\,  where education and training will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to work successfully in the blue economy sectors and help support the growth of these industries by providing a skilled workforce and increasing career opportunities across borders.

SUMMARY:Mediterranean Youth Academy MYA
DESCRIPTION:The fifth edition of MYA will build on the experiences gained from the previous four editions held in Cairo and Alexandria\, Egypt\, Barcelona-Spain and Nice-France under the patronage of the Egyptian Prime Minister\, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Egypt\, the Union for the \nPrevious editions of the MYA have garnered significant recognition for its impact on empowering youth. It focused on climate action\, gender equality\, social inclusion\, human rights\, human fraternity\, youth employment\, youth entrepreneurship and migration\, and brought together participants to foster dialogue and skill-building in these critical areas. The 5th edition will continue to build on this legacy\, providing a platform for young leaders to develop solutions\, share experiences\, and strengthen their role as agents of change in the Euro-Mediterranean region. \nDuring the workshops\, the young participants will be stimulated to identify key policy recommendations linked to the 3 thematic clusters and to propose initiatives that are relevant for youth in the Euro-Mediterranean region. As a follow-up to participants\, the MYF will also update a draft of the “Initiatives for the Mediterranean” guidebook that will provide insights on how youth-led initiatives can contribute to addressing issues widely felt in the Euro-Mediterranean region and discussed during the MYA. \nMYA aligns with the broader goals of empowering young people in the Euro-Mediterranean region by providing them with the tools and networks necessary to address challenges and drive sustainable development. Through the MYA\, participants will benefit from workshops\, interactive discussions\, and capacity-building sessions designed to equip them with practical skills and foster cross-regional collaboration. The program’s focus on climate change\, gender equity\, youth employment and entrepreneurship reflects the urgent need to address these interconnected issues while promoting inclusive and sustainable growth. \nAs the MYA grows in scope and impact\, it continues to establish itself as a vital platform for fostering youth leadership and engagement across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
